Ambohijatovo is a hillside district of Antananarivo notable for its garden and monument commemorating the martyrs of the 1947 Malagasy uprising against colonial rule. Terraced green space climbs the slope in the heart of the capital, providing a rare public park amid the dense city. The memorial honours those who died in the anti-colonial rebellion, a defining event on the road to independence. From its upper terraces, walkers gain views over the lower town and surrounding hills along quiet, shaded paths.
