The Kamuzu Mausoleum in Lilongwe is the tomb and memorial of Hastings Kamuzu Banda, the founding president who led Malawi to independence and ruled for three decades. The domed monument, set in landscaped grounds in the capital, holds his remains and commemorates his role in the nation's history through inscriptions and symbolic design. It stands near other state buildings and is used for commemorations and official visits. It is a key site for understanding modern Malawian politics.
