The historic Parliament Building in central Harare housed Zimbabwe's legislature from independence until the opening of a new complex at Mount Hampden. Standing on Nelson Mandela Avenue, the colonnaded colonial-era structure began as a hotel before conversion to legislative use, and its chambers witnessed the transition from Rhodesia to majority rule. The building sits within the government quarter near the cathedral and Africa Unity Square. It remains a landmark of the city's political history.
