A botanical garden on the western edge of Johannesburg, centred on a waterfall that tumbles over a rocky cliff where a pair of Verreaux's eagles has long nested. Named for the anti-apartheid leader Walter Sisulu, it showcases indigenous plants of the highveld across cultivated beds, natural grassland and rocky slopes. Walking trails follow the Crocodile River gorge, and the cliffs draw birdwatchers hoping to see the resident raptors. The garden is a popular weekend destination for hikes, picnics and outdoor concerts.
