Akwa

Akwa is the vibrant commercial and nightlife district of Douala, running along the boulevards near the Wouri estuary. Its streets are lined with hotels, banks, restaurants, shops and bars, making it the throbbing centre of the port city's business and entertainment. Named after one of the traditional Duala chieftaincies, the quarter mixes colonial-era buildings with modern commerce. By day it is a hub of trade and offices; by night it fills with music and social life.
