New Bell Cathedral (St Peter and St Paul)

The cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Douala. Rising above the densely populated neighbourhoods of the city, its towers and long nave provide a spiritual anchor for one of Central Africa's largest Catholic communities. The building hosts ordinations, major feasts and civic funerals that draw large crowds. Its architecture combines solid masonry with tall windows that light the interior, and the surrounding plaza fills during Sunday services and religious processions.
