The Palais du Peuple is the imposing seat of the National Assembly and Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a large modernist complex built with foreign assistance in Kinshasa. Its monumental scale and domed hall make it one of the most recognisable public buildings in the capital, designed to house the legislature and major state ceremonies. The parliament has been a focal point of the country's political life, hosting debates, national events and moments of upheaval.
