This restored Ottoman-era mansion in the Tripoli medina survives as a museum of traditional urban life in the Libyan capital. Arranged around a central courtyard, its rooms display furnishings, costumes and objects that recreate the household of a well-to-do family during the Karamanli period. Carved woodwork, painted ceilings and tiled surfaces reflect the domestic craftsmanship of the time. Set among the narrow lanes of the old town, the house offers a rare and intimate view behind the plain outer walls that guard the medina's private world.
