This dramatic suspension bridge spans the deep gorge of the Rhummel at Constantine, a city famous for perching on cliffs above a series of chasms. Opened in 1912, it hangs some distance above the river far below and links the old town to the heights beyond, offering vertiginous views into the ravine. For decades it was among the highest bridges of its type in the world. Its slender deck and stone towers have become an emblem of Constantine, whose nickname as the city of bridges is well earned by crossings such as this.
