The Bou Inania Madrasa of Meknes is a fourteenth-century Marinid college in the old medina, built to house and teach students near the Grand Mosque. Arranged around a central courtyard with a marble basin, it is decorated with carved cedar, sculpted stucco and zellij typical of Marinid religious architecture, and small student cells open off the upper galleries. From its rooftop, reached by a narrow stair, visitors gain a fine view over the neighbouring mosque. It is among the most refined historic monuments in Meknes.
