This historic residence on a hill in the Çankaya district served for decades as the official home of the presidents of the Turkish Republic. Beginning as a modest vineyard house acquired by the republic's founder in the early 1920s, it was expanded into a formal mansion set in landscaped grounds. Rooms preserved as they were used by the first president display personal effects, gifts of state and period furnishings. Though the presidency later moved to a larger complex, the mansion endures as a museum of the young nation's leadership.
