This slender observation and telecommunications tower in the Çankaya district was completed in the late 1980s and quickly became a symbol of modern Ankara. Rising to around one hundred and twenty-five metres, it carries a revolving restaurant and a viewing gallery that survey the sprawling capital across its surrounding hills. A shopping centre occupies the base, tying the tower into the district's commercial life. Renovated after a period of closure, it remains a popular vantage point for grasping the layout of the young city.
