Dubai Spice Souk

A traditional market in the Deira district of Dubai devoted to spices, herbs, dried goods and incense, set in narrow covered lanes near the creek. Stalls overflow with saffron, frankincense, dried fruits, nuts and aromatic blends, filling the air with strong scents. Long a centre of the city's trade in goods carried across the Gulf, the souk sits close to the gold market and the abra crossings. Its crowded passages and heaped sacks of spices offer a vivid picture of old Deira's commercial life within the modern city.
