Capital Gate

A high-rise tower near the Abu Dhabi exhibition centre, famous for its dramatic lean, which tilts far more steeply than the tower of Pisa. Achieved through a staggered stacking of floors over a diagonal core, the inclination gives the building a distinctive wind-swept form. It houses a hotel and offices, with a projecting canopy adding to its sculptural profile. Recognised as one of the world's most inclined purpose-built towers, it has become a talking point on the capital's skyline and a demonstration of engineering ambition.
