The Bosscha Observatory, on the highlands north of Bandung near Lembang, is the oldest astronomical observatory in Indonesia, established in the 1920s during the colonial period. Its landmark double domes shelter historic refracting telescopes that have contributed to studies of double stars and the structure of the galaxy. Operated as a research and teaching facility by a leading Indonesian institute of technology, it also opens on scheduled visits for public astronomy education.
