Villa Isola is a striking Art Deco mansion in the northern hills of Bandung, built in 1933 as a private residence and celebrated as a masterpiece of the streamlined modern style. Its curving white forms, rounded balconies and horizontal lines were designed to harmonise with the landscape, framed by terraced gardens and a long axial approach aligned with distant mountains and volcanoes. After serving as a hotel and military headquarters, it became part of a teacher-training university.
