Labrador Nature Reserve occupies a rocky headland on the southern coast of Singapore, combining a patch of secondary rainforest with the remains of a colonial coastal battery. Trails wind past mangroves, sea cliffs, and old gun emplacements and tunnels built to defend the harbour before the Second World War. A boardwalk along the shore offers views of the sea and passing ships, while the woodland shelters birds and monkeys. The reserve pairs quiet natural scenery with tangible reminders of the island's wartime defences.
