Constructed for King Chulalongkorn in the early twentieth century within the Dusit palace precinct, this golden-teak residence is often described as one of the largest structures ever built from that timber. The three-storey mansion was assembled without nails using traditional joinery and served briefly as a royal home before restoration turned it into a museum. Its airy verandas, octagonal tower and period furnishings evoke the cosmopolitan tastes of the Siamese court amid quiet palace gardens.
