Rising immediately north of Islamabad, this protected range forms a green backdrop to the capital and offers a network of hiking trails through subtropical forest. The park shelters leopards, wild boar, porcupines and hundreds of bird species, and its trails climb to viewpoints and picnic spots overlooking the city. Popular routes draw walkers year-round, from easy strolls to steep ascents toward Pir Sohawa. This accessible wilderness is central to the capital's outdoor life.
