Purani Haveli

This palatial residence was once home to the Nizams of Hyderabad and now shelters a museum devoted to the seventh Nizam and his times. Its European-influenced halls display gifts, robes, models and an extraordinarily long fitted wooden wardrobe said to be among the largest of its kind. Set around a courtyard, the U-shaped mansion reflects the blend of local and Western tastes that marked the dynasty's later years. The museum offers an intimate portrait of one of the world's wealthiest rulers of his era.
