A warren of lanes packed with stalls in the seaside village of Stanley on the south of Hong Kong Island, selling clothing, souvenirs, art, and silk goods. The market grew around an old fishing settlement and now draws visitors as much for its relaxed waterfront setting as for bargaining. A breezy promenade of restaurants and bars lines the bay nearby, alongside the relocated colonial-era Murray House and a small maritime temple. The combination of shopping, sea views, and heritage buildings makes it a favourite half-day escape from the city.
