The city's flagship performing-arts venue on the Kowloon waterfront, a sweeping windowless building clad in pink tiles whose curved, sloping roofline hugs the harbour edge. Opened in 1989 on the site of the old railway terminus, it houses a concert hall, grand theatre, and studio theatre used by the Hong Kong Philharmonic and visiting companies. Its much-debated lack of harbour-facing windows became a talking point among architects. The plaza outside, beside the clock tower, is a prime gathering point for the nightly harbour light show.
