A serene Buddhist convent in Diamond Hill built in the Tang-dynasty style, its timber halls joined entirely by interlocking wooden brackets without a single nail. Reconstructed in the 1990s, the complex of golden-roofed pavilions surrounds lotus ponds and bonsai courtyards that seem worlds away from the surrounding tower blocks. The adjoining Nan Lian Garden extends the calm with rockeries, a golden pavilion, and a koi-filled pond. Together they form a rare oasis of classical architecture in dense urban Kowloon.
