A small cream-and-white chapel in the fishing village of Coloane, built in 1928 and dedicated to the Jesuit missionary who died nearby on his way to China. Its curved baroque facade and blue-shuttered windows front a quiet cobbled square that has become an emblem of the island's slow pace. The chapel once held relics associated with the saint and with Catholic martyrs of the region. Surrounded by lantern-lit lanes, seafood taverns, and old shophouses, it anchors one of the most tranquil corners of the territory.
