The oldest and largest Chinatown in South Korea, established near Incheon's port after the city opened to foreign trade in the late 19th century. Its sloping streets are marked by an ornate paifang gateway, red-and-gold facades, murals of Chinese legends, and restaurants that claim to be the birthplace of the Korean-Chinese noodle dish jajangmyeon, marked by a small museum. The district sits beside the old open-port quarter, whose preserved Japanese and Western colonial-era buildings form a compact heritage zone.
