Nunobiki Falls

Nunobiki Falls is a series of waterfalls in the mountains rising directly behind central Kobe, celebrated in classical poetry and long counted among the most admired cascades in Japan. Despite lying within easy reach of the city, the falls are reached by a forest trail that climbs from near the main railway station, passing through greenery to viewpoints of the tumbling water. The name, meaning cloth-pulling, evokes the way the largest fall spreads down the rock like unfurled fabric. The path continues to a herb garden and a reservoir.
