Abeno Harukas is a skyscraper in southern Osaka that ranks among the tallest buildings in Japan, rising some three hundred metres above the Tennoji district. Completed in 2014, it houses a department store, offices, an art museum, and a hotel, topped by a multi-storey observation gallery known as Harukas 300. From its glass-walled decks visitors survey the sprawl of the Kansai plain toward the mountains and, on clear days, distant Kobe and beyond. An open-air atrium near the summit lets the wind in, adding to the sense of height.
