The country's largest convention and exhibition center dominates the Odaiba bayfront with an unmistakable conference tower formed of four huge inverted pyramids balanced above a plaza. Opened in the mid-1990s, it hosts trade fairs, technology expos, and enormous fan conventions that draw hundreds of thousands, and a colossal red handsaw sculpture stands nearby as public art. While primarily a business venue, its bold, almost sculptural architecture has made it a landmark and a symbol of the reclaimed waterfront district.
