A large themed cultural park in Xi'an built in the early 2000s to recreate a Tang-dynasty imperial garden on the site of a former royal pleasure ground. Timber pavilions, pagodas and roofed galleries in reconstructed Tang style ring a broad central lake crossed by ornamental bridges. In the evening a water-screen film is projected onto a mist curtain, along with costumed performances of court music and dance. Visitors wander courtyards devoted to poetry and tea, the complex glowing under lanterns after dark.
