MUŻA – Malta National Community Art Museum

The national fine arts museum of Malta, rehoused in the restored Auberge d'Italie, another of the knights' langue palaces. Its collection spans medieval and Renaissance works, Baroque paintings connected to the Order of St John, and later Maltese and Mediterranean art arranged around themes rather than strict chronology. The building's own history as a knights' hostel and later law court is woven into the visitor route. Rotating displays and a central courtyard make it a cultural anchor in the lower part of Republic Street.
