This small medieval church in the heart of Tallinn's old town is best known for the ornate painted and gilded clock mounted on its whitewashed exterior wall, the oldest public clock in the city. Founded in the fourteenth century, the church holds a richly carved Baroque pulpit and a late-medieval altarpiece by the master Bernt Notke. Sermons in Estonian were first preached here, giving it a place in the nation's cultural history. Its stepped gable and slender spire mark a quiet corner near the town hall square.
