This large park occupies a bend of the Neris River west of the Vilnius old town and is the biggest green space in the capital. Laid out with avenues of old trees, it holds an open-air stage that hosts the mass song festivals central to Lithuanian identity. Paths for walking, cycling and skiing thread the woods, and events draw crowds through the year. The riverside setting and shaded lawns make it a favourite retreat for residents seeking recreation close to the city centre.
