Carved partly into a hillside cave on the southern outskirts of Podgorica, this unusual Orthodox monastery was founded at the end of the 19th century by a monk who, according to tradition, was led to the site by a vision. The church interior extends into the natural rock, its irregular chambers painted with frescoes and lit by candles, giving it an atmosphere unlike conventional churches. A whitewashed facade with twin small domes marks the entrance built against the slope.
