This seventeenth-century Ottoman mosque stands on the west bank of the Neretva in Mostar, its minaret one of the best viewpoints over the famous bridge. Beyond the domed prayer hall lies a walled courtyard and a small cemetery, while a terrace above the river frames a classic view of the arched crossing. Visitors may climb the narrow spiral stair of the minaret for an elevated panorama of the old town's stone roofs and turquoise water. The mosque forms part of the historic ensemble that gives central Mostar its distinctive character.
