Piotrkowska Street is the main axis of Łódź and one of the longest commercial streets in Europe, running for several kilometres through the heart of the city. Lined with eclectic 19th-century tenements and former industrialists' residences, it charts the boom years when Łódź was a textile powerhouse. The pedestrianised central stretch is dotted with statues, plaques and a walk of fame of Polish film stars, along with cafés, bars and shops in restored buildings.
