Dokk1

Dokk1 is a large public library and cultural centre on the Aarhus waterfront, opened in the mid-2010s as part of the city's harbour redevelopment. Its bold, angular design encloses flexible open spaces for reading, study, events and community activities, and it ranks among the largest libraries in Scandinavia. Beyond books, the building houses civic services, a children's area and a rooftop terrace over the water. A striking suspended bell rings when a child is born in the region, linking the institution to daily life in the city.
