Aarhus City Hall is a landmark of Danish functionalist architecture completed in the early 1940s to designs by leading modernist architects. Clad in grey marble and topped by a tall, open clock tower added during construction, it broke sharply with traditional civic building styles of the time. Now a protected monument, it continues to serve municipal functions while guided tours reveal the halls, the tower and the coherent modern craftsmanship throughout.
