Set inside the base of the landmark Holmenkollen ski jump above Oslo, this museum claims to be the oldest of its kind and traces more than four thousand years of skiing history. Exhibits cover polar expeditions, alpine and cross-country traditions, and the evolution of jumping equipment through the decades. A lift and stairway carry visitors to the top of the jump tower, where an observation deck offers a panorama over the city and fjord. The site combines sporting heritage with one of the capital's most recognisable silhouettes.
