Opened in 2009 within the Royal Museums complex on the Place Royale, this museum holds the world's largest collection of works by the Belgian surrealist René Magritte. Spread over several floors, it presents paintings, drawings, photographs and films that trace his development and his exploration of illusion and the ordinary made strange. The collection includes early advertising work and personal documents alongside his best-known canvases. Its central location makes it an easy pairing with the neighbouring fine arts collections.
