This historic stone bridge spans the wide Ebro River beside the old town, its origins reaching back to the medieval period though it has been rebuilt and reinforced after repeated floods. Its broad arches and sturdy piers frame the classic view of the great basilica reflected in the water. Bronze lion sculptures, symbols of the city, guard its entrances. Long the principal river crossing, the bridge remains one of the most photographed spots in the city, especially when the basilica is illuminated at night.
