These well-preserved public baths beside the river date from the eleventh century and are among the oldest surviving Islamic-era structures in the city. A series of vaulted chambers pierced with star-shaped skylights once housed the cold, warm, and hot rooms of the bathhouse, supported by columns reusing capitals from earlier periods. The baths survived because a private house was built over them, protecting the structure through the centuries. They offer a tangible glimpse of daily life in the medieval Muslim city.
