This Gothic cathedral in the heart of the old city is dedicated to a young martyr and a revered cross, its soaring nave and cloister built mainly across the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The ornate neo-Gothic west facade was completed much later, in the nineteenth century, giving the exterior its lacy pinnacled appearance. A tranquil cloister garden famously houses thirteen white geese, a longstanding tradition. Visitors can ascend to the roof for views over the medieval quarter and the surrounding city.
