Set in an elegant early twentieth-century palace in the Salamanca district, this museum displays the encyclopedic collection assembled by a wealthy financier and editor. Its galleries span medieval enamels, jewelry, weapons, and paintings by Spanish and European masters including works attributed to Goya, El Greco, and Bosch. The building itself, with its painted ceilings and grand staircase, forms part of the experience. The collector left the entire estate to the nation, creating one of Madrid's finest small museums.
