This belvedere terrace sits on a height above the old town of Genoa, reached by a historic Liberty-style public lift that carries visitors up from the streets below. From its railing the view spreads across a dense sea of rooftops, church domes and the harbour beyond, taking in much of the historic centre in a single glance. The terrace was celebrated in verse by a well-known Genoese songwriter, adding a layer of local sentiment. Benches and a small cafe make it a pleasant place to pause, especially in the soft light of late afternoon.
