This baroque palace in central Turin is instantly recognised for its undulating brick facade, designed in the 17th century by the architect Guarino Guarini. It was the birthplace of the first king of a united Italy and later held the country's first parliament, giving it a central role in the story of national unification. Today it contains the national museum of the Risorgimento, whose galleries trace the political struggles of the 19th century through documents, weapons and paintings.
