The largest landscaped public park in Rome spreads across the slopes west of Trastevere, laid out in the seventeenth century around a grand villa built for the Pamphili family. Its extensive grounds combine formal Italian gardens, pine groves, meadows, and ornamental lakes crossed by a monumental viaduct. The central casino, decorated with antique sculpture, anchors the estate, though it is not generally open inside. Popular with joggers and families, the park offers a rare expanse of green near the centre.
