The Topography of Terror is a documentation centre built on the ground where the headquarters of the Gestapo and SS once stood during the Nazi era. The modern museum, opened in its permanent form in 2010, traces how the machinery of persecution and terror was organised from this exact site. Outdoor panels run alongside a surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall and the excavated cellars of the former buildings. Indoor exhibitions use photographs and archival documents to detail the crimes coordinated here, and admission is free.
