This vast nineteenth-century cathedral rises near the waterfront in bold bands of green and white stone, blending Byzantine and Romanesque influences into a striking striped silhouette. Its multiple domes and cavernous interior make it one of the largest churches built in France since the Middle Ages. Standing beside the remnants of an older medieval cathedral, it marks the boundary between the Panier quarter and the redeveloped docklands. Mosaics and coloured marble line the interior, catching the light from the high windows.
