On the Right Bank near the Pont Neuf, this celebrated department store is renowned for its Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture, with a spectacular glass-roofed atrium, gilded balconies and colourful enamelled panels. Founded in the late 19th century, it grew into one of the grandest shops in Paris before closing for a long restoration and reopening in the 21st century. The building combines historic ironwork with a sinuous modern glass facade added during its revival. A rooftop terrace offers panoramic views over the river and the city.
