At the very tip of the Île de la Cité below the Pont Neuf, this small triangular garden sits at the original water level of the Seine, several steps down from the modern quays. Named after Henri IV, whose equestrian statue stands on the bridge above, it offers a peaceful willow-shaded point where the river divides around the island. From its prow visitors gain open views of the Louvre, the Institut de France and the passing river traffic. The intimate setting makes it a favoured spot for picnics and quiet contemplation.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
